On a fateful summer night almost 20 years ago, our community faced an unprecedented crisis when lightning struck near Rattlesnake Island on August 16th and ignited the Okanagan Mountain Park Fire. Thousands of individuals were forced to evacuate their homes in Kettle Valley. Unfortunately, 239 properties were lost during this unfortunate event; however, it was inspiring how everyone came together and showed support for one another as we all braved through what felt like insurmountable circumstances.
